MSDC Invites Your Participation
by Andy Thompson, MSDC Secretary
MSDC's Board of Directors invites you to help strengthen our club which is run entirely by our volunteer members. Our names are listed in every copy of this newsletter in the “Housekeeping Info” column. With the new year approaching, we ask every club member to consider if you would enjoy spending an hour or two each month helping with our club’s expanding activities.
In particular, our membership has doubled during our recent Covid years and Zoom meetings. But we have not had the pleasure of meeting one another through our traditional in-person monthly meetings.
We are looking at several new potential meeting sites in downtown DC, given that the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History (NMNH), our traditional home base, has been very slow to allow groups back into the building where we had consistently met since January of 1942.
We ask that if any of you have a little extra time and can help us with our expanding services, whether to help us have a greater media presence such as through Instagram, meet ups, compiling links for our monthly “Geology in the News” column, occasional field collecting trips, and new ideas, please contact any of our Board members or me directly (thompson01@starpower.net). Also, if you wish to write an article for our newsletter, we will most happily help you with editing and finalizing the item prior to publication. For newsletter-related ideas or contributions, please contact our editor, Ken Rock.
Together we can explore possibilities to make your and all our members’ experiences with MSDC more meaningful. Thank you for your consideration.
