Prez Says...

by Kenny Reynolds, MSDC President

Hello MSDC Members and welcome to October!

September was a busy month for me and ended with the Franklin mineral show in New Jersey. Unfortunately the weather in New Jersey was the same that we got down here in the DC area. The remnants of a tropical storm dumped several inches of rain on the show on Saturday and Sunday. The rain caused attendance to be way off compared to years past but there was still a crowd for the indoor vendors. The outdoor part of the show was dismal as the Fireman's park turned into a mud pit! But the show did go on as advertised "rain or shine."

I set up a mineral display for the show as I typically do so I thought I'd share some photos of my display of Franklin/Sterling Hill vein minerals, as well as photos of other displays by friends at the show, as well as a nice display done by the Franklin Mineral Museum.

What would a mineral show in Franklin, New Jersey be without fluorescent minerals? Below are some pictures of the fluorescent mineral displays.

It's hard to believe that September is gone and we are moving into October, but not to worry because we have a great line up of presentations for the Fall. Please remember to tune in for our next October MSDC Zoom meeting on Wednesday, October 4 at 7:30 pm. Hope to see you there!
